The man who managed Newquay Airport’s transition from a military to commercial airport is the latest member to join Helston-Lizard Rotary Club.
Nigel Sumpter has lived in Helston for the past 15 years, having first visited the town 37 years ago.
Married to Yasmin for 25 years, they have two children, son Benjamin, 15, and 12-year-old daughter Sapphire.
Nigel has held a variety of appointments within Cornwall Council, now working in the Cornwall Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty unit. His hobbies include off road cycling and surveying and mapping the byways and bridleways of Cornwall, passing the details to the ISW Mapping website. He also enjoys dinghy sailing and kayaking on the Helford River with his family.
By joining the club Nigel raises the total number of full members to 40.
The club takes part in a variety of community projects, most recently repairing and painting Helston’s white washed walls.
