The service on Sunday was taken by Jean Whetham, assisted by worship leader Margaret Dancer.

The first hymn was “What a friend we have in Jesus”. Prayers were said for forgiveness for our selfishness and the wrongs we have done to others. Jean then read a story of Phidias and Damon and the congregation read Psalm 4.

Margaret read the lessons from Galatians and Luke. Jean then based her sermon on faith. She asked what is faith and why do people have faith? It’s like having faith of what’s in a packet that we buy at a supermarket, is the cereal really in there? We do doubt at times when we pray to God and also we sometimes doubt people.

Prayers of intercession were led by Margaret starting in silence bringing our own concerns to God. Following prayers were said about violence and fear of war around the world, for those in Africa and Asia, the poor and starving, for overseas and home missions, those working at St Petroc’s and the Foodbank, those in care, the unwell and bereaved.

The final hymn was “Great is thy faithfulness” and pianist was Margaret Dancer. Tea and coffee was served after the service.

The service on Sunday will be taken by Debbie Goldsworthy and assisted by Peter Mehaffey.

Pop-in will be held on Monday from 1pm to 3pm - everyone is welcome.
