The church has been heavily involved in the Shanty Festival again this year.

They hosted two concerts on Friday evening “Thraw'd Together” a group from West Cornwall and “Scheepsfolk”, a talented group from Holland who sang and played with a wide variety of interesting instruments.

The coffee shop raised funds for Christian Aid on Saturday morning and the choir ran the coffee shop on Saturday afternoon raising over £200.00 for their funds; a fun occasion which included some impromptu shanty singing. There was no Saturday lunchtime concert but this Saturday at noon we have the Nightingales; Sally Collett and Jane Curtis sopranos with Ruth Bray, piano and organ. The Shanty Festival service took place on Sunday morning with a large congregation with many visitors present. The Rev Stephen Tudgey officiated and Canon Anthony Phillips was the guest preacher. The church choir, combined with the Cornish American Song Institute to lead the singing, sang the Rutter anthem “I will sing with the spirit”. Also taking part were the Sheringham Shantymen and Scheepsfolk. The three groups combined at the end of the service to sing the '”Farewell Shanty”. Sue McLaughlin and Brenda Grieve, representing the RNLI, read lessons.

The priest-in-charge officiated at sung evensong. Jan Winslade and Robert Martin read lessons. The choir sang the anthem “Hail Gladdening Light”.
