CROWAN CHURCH: The bells welcomed the congregation on Sunday. The Rev Phillip Douglass took the service. Shelia and Ann read the lessons and Christine played the organ. In Sunday school, Madeline read the lesson and the theme of Moses was continued. The children joined the congregation for communion. Alex and Madeline took their first communion after their conformation by the Bishop of Truro last week.

The strawberry afternoon held at the Gables in Releath on Saturday was a wonderful afternoon despite the weather. It was well attended and everyone enjoyed strawberries and cream. The "guess name of the doll" competition was won by Phoebie Lay. Ann Trevenen Jenkin was the winner of the treasure hunt and there was also a popular plant stall.

Crowan Open Gardens afternoon will be held on Sunday, June 30 and begins at 2pm. There will be cream teas to enjoy in the Parish Rooms.

FLORENCE QUILTERS: The Quilters are holding their first exhibition this Friday and Saturday. They are open at Nancegollan Village Hall between 10am and 4.30pm both days. Butterfly Quilters will be there with a stall on both days. There is to be a raffle in aid of ShelterBox and the prize is a beautiful handmade lap quilt. The admission to the event is £1 and there will be light lunches and teas and coffee available. The Quilters welcome new members to come along to meetings at Nancegollan Village Hall on Fridays between 10am and 3pm. NANCEGOLLAN VILLAGE HALL: On Monday there will be a quiz evening beginning at 8pm. The quiz master is Kevin Meagor. Teams of up to four are welcome to come and compete. The cost is £1 per person. There will be a raffle and tea and coffee will be available or you may bring your own drinks and nibbles The village hall present Jazz on the Grass with The Great Western Jazz Company. This event will be held on Saturday, June 29 between 2pm and 5pm. The cost is £10 and includes Pimms, strawberries and cream and savoury nibbles.
