The Isles of Scilly Steamship Company is extending an open invitation to all neighbours, local businesses and interested parties to find out more about its plan for new facilities at Land’s End Airport for the future.

Consultants, The Sweett Group, will be showing drawings and plans relating to proposed enhancements at the airport, including plan to harden the runways, and will be available to answer questions, together with members of airport staff.

Everyone is welcome to attend the event today (Wednesday, June 19) between 5pm and 7.30pm in the main terminal building at Land’s End Airport.

Airport manager Chris Pearson said: “Having invested £1 million in our new terminal building earlier this year we are keen to consult with local people on the next stage of enhancements at Land’s End Airport and look forward to welcoming people on Wednesday.”

The latest plans follow a range of investments this year by the Isles of Scilly Steamship Company to enhance transport links to and from the Isles of Scilly, including a new Twin Otter aircraft, increasing its Skybus fleet to seven, and a £2 million refit of the Scillonian III passenger ferry.

Around 50 new full time and seasonal have been created as a result of the investment, including pilots, seamen, engineers, fire officers, customer service and airport staff.
