Fundraising has been plain sailing for Lizard Lifeboat Station this month thanks to two donations.

First, fundraising committee member Rachel Tonkin was invited to accept a cheque for £265 from the landlady of Mullion's Mounts Bay Inn, Cheryl Tonkin.

The money was raised from the pub's weekly quiz raffles held during the winter.

Lyndsay Bray, from the lifeboat station, said: “Thanks go to Cheryl and her team for their continued support of the lifeboat.”

A further £312 was then raised through an “evening at the races”.

Organised by the members of the fundraising committee and held at the Lizard Football Club, race goers were able to place bets on horses that had been locally sponsored and then watch the action on a big screen in the club. Lyndsay added: “Huge thanks go to compare for the evening Phil Greet, without whom the evening couldn't have gone ahead and wouldn't have been such good fun.

“Thanks and appreciation also go to the race sponsors Forth Element Dive Gear, Gwarvas Dairy Farm, D&J Bray Plumbing and Heating, Ann's Pasties, Yoga with Tania, Cadgwith Cove Crab Shop, The Cuff Family and The Drummond Clan.

“Everyone at the station would again like to thank all who support the events held in aid of our lifeboat.”
