The search and rescue squadron at RNAS Culdrose will be joining forces with RNLI lifeguards again this summer.
The Helston-based 771 Squadron is preparing for what is expected to be a very busy summer season on some of the best beaches in the country.
In this, the 60th anniversary of helicopter search and rescue within the Royal Navy, the Sea King helicopters will visit beaches between June 25 and July 3 at Perranporth, Poldhu Cove, Tregonhawke, Harlyn Bay, Crantock and Gwithian.
The lifeguards at these beaches will be briefed by the aircrew about preparing and setting up landing sites for the search and rescue Sea Kings, as well as talk about rescue techniques and the medical support that the crews will use throughout the summer across all Cornish beaches.
Lieutenant Alex Stevenson, from 771 Squadron, said: “It’s always a delight to work with the Cornish RNLI lifeguards and the visits ensure we all fully understand each other’s capabilities and skills. In the end this can only benefit everyone who needs our help.”
