Two kayakers and their would-be rescuer were rounded up by Falmouth inshore lifeboat yesterday after being blown more than half a mile out to sea off Swanpool Beach.
Reports of the troubled kayakers reached Falmouth Coastguard at 3.20pm and both the inshore lifeboat and cliff rescue team were tasked to assist.
By 3.32pm the lifeboat was on scene and took the imperilled pair and their kayaks on board.
They "had not been able to paddle back to Swanpool due to the strong offshore wind" a RNLI spokesperson said.
A small rigid inflatable boat had gone to the kayakers' rescue intially, but itself broke down and had to be towed back to shore as well.
The paddlers and their would-be rescuer were back ashore by 3.44pm.
Crew: Andy Jenkin (Helmsman), Josh Beardmore, Deren Plaister
Weather: NW 7, moderate sea and slight swell, good visibility
