A disabled woman in a wheelchair has been left with a serious facial injury after being shot in the face by an airgun in a Camborne park.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the 54-year-old woman in a wheelchair was shot with an airgun on Monday.

The victim was walking her dog in the park when her face was struck with a pellet, causing a puncture wound in her cheek.

She had to be taken to hospital for treatment for a serious wound to her cheek following the incident.

DC Rebekah Shorten said: “Police are treating this as a serious assault which could have been much worse had it struck the victim in the eye.

“We are now asking residents in the Tuckingmill Valley Park area of Camborne if they witnessed a BB or pellet gun being fired in the park.”
