A woman from Camborne has admitted housing benefit and council tax benefit fraud totalling £5,644.64.
Sarah Small (41) of Redbrooke Road, Camborne pleaded guilty at Truro Magistrates Court on Friday July 12 to four counts of benefit fraud, two of failing to promptly report to Cornwall Council that her earnings had increased and two counts of failing to promptly report to Cornwall Council that an award of tax credits had increased.
Magistrates sentenced Mrs Small to a twelve month community order of 60 hours unpaid work and a victim surcharge of £60.
Mrs Small was also ordered to pay £125 towards the Council’s investigation and legal costs.
The overpaid benefits are being recovered from Mrs Small by Cornwall Council separately from this Court action.
