A man from Lanner has admitted housing benefit and council tax benefit fraud totalling £7,120.17.
Roger Chesterfield (54) of Strawberry Fields, Lanner pleaded guilty at Truro Magistrates Court on Friday 12 July 2013 to four counts of benefit fraud, two counts of failing to promptly report to Cornwall Council that his partner’s earnings had increased and two counts of failing to promptly report to Cornwall Council that he had commenced paid employment.
Magistrates sentenced Mr Chesterfield to a 12 month community order of 100 hours unpaid work and a Victim Surcharge of £60.
Mr Chesterfield was also ordered to pay £150 towards the Council’s investigation and legal costs.
The overpaid benefits have been repaid in full by Mr Chesterfield to Cornwall Council.
