A woman from Hayle has been given a ten week curfew after admitting housing benefit, council tax benefit, income support and jobseekers allowance benefit fraud totalling £11,597.94.
Corrina Wilkie (25) of Treloweth Close, Hayle pleaded guilty at Truro Magistrates Court on Friday, July 12 to four counts of benefit fraud, two counts of failing to promptly report to Cornwall Council that her partner was living with her and two counts of failing to promptly report to the Department for work and Pensions that her partner was living with her.
Magistrates sentenced Miss Wilkie to a community order of a ten week curfew on Saturday’s 6pm to 6am and Sunday’s 8am to 8pm and a Victim Surcharge of £60.
Miss Wilkie was also ordered to pay £250 towards the council’s investigation and legal costs.
The overpaid benefits are being recovered from Miss Wilkie by both Cornwall Council and the Department for Work and Pensions separately from this Court action.
