The talented youth of Mylor Primary School put on an impressive performance for their parents, teachers and peers when they held a Mylor’s Got Talent competition.

Headteacher Chris Lea described it as a “fantastic night”, and an “excellent performance for the parents”.

Pupils aged nine to 11 displayed impressive levels of talent across the spectrum, with singing, dancing, juggling and rollerblading making for a lively night.

In total 23 acts took part, from infants to the juniors, and the school hall was full to its capacity. They were watched by an audience of parents and other relatives and friends, who showed their support and appreciation with plenty of applause.

Mr Lea thanked the two parents that organised the evening, fundraising co-ordinators Vanessa Kitts and Rebecca Dale, saying the event was a great display of organisation, leadership and determination.

The pair said they were very proud of all the children who entered, adding that a lot of effort had gone into choosing costumes and all the pupils had obviously rehearsed very hard.

Falmouth-based Cornish Cruising sponsored the event, while Jeremy Stonehouse gave the acts extra help by controlling the music and lights for the evening.

The acts were judged by Sue Bradbury, who has a local PR company and teaches music and drama at Truro High School, Alex Cockle, owner of Kernow Music School in Falmouth and Victoria Keast of Victoria’s Dance Academy in Falmouth.

They agreed they were given a difficult job of choosing the overall winners, who in the end were Felix Liverod-Griffin in the infants as a stand up comedian and Louis Holmes in the juniors playing electric guitar.

So far £800 has been raised, with more money still to come in.

Results: Infant winners: 1, Felix Liverod-Griffin – stand up comedian; 2, Bryony Burns and Danni Ball – circus clowns; 3, Wilamena Dyer – singing, Castle on a Cloud.

Junior winners: 1, Louis Holmes – electric guitar; 2, Charlie Jose, Georgia Townley – singing, When I’m Gone; 3, Sennen Addinall – singing, Delilah.
