The choir sang in a joint concert with the St Stythians Band (Musical Director, James Burns) in the evening of the Stithians Show on Monday, July 15.

The choir was conducted by Musical Director, Elaine Tangye and accompanied by regular pianist, George Smith. Chairman of the concert was Andy Christophers of Penryn.

The choir’s programme was two sets of five songs, and the evening ended with a rousing Trelawny, sung by choir and audience and accompanied by the band and George Smith. “Singing in difficult acoustics (on grass and in a marquee), the choir blended well and seemed to please a gratifyingly full audience,” said Elaine Tangye afterwards.

A report of the choir’s concert in the Methodist Church in Flushing on Tuesday will appear in next week’s paper.

The choir can next be heard at its annual fête, in the garden of the Princess Pavilion, Falmouth on Saturday, August 3, open from 1 pm. Admission will be free, the Cober Valley Accordion Band will play during the afternoon, there will be the usual stalls, a draw with attractive prizes, and songs by the choir – well worth a visit.

The choir practises in St Peter’s Church Hall, Flushing on Mondays from 7.30pm to about 9.30pm. No practices are held in August, so Monday, July 29 will be last opportunity for four weeks for anyone interested to come and discover how much enjoyment and satisfaction can be had from singing with others.

More information about the choir can be found at www.nankerseychoir.org and from the secretary, Fred Bidgood on 01326-373984.
