The new boyfriend of Tina Nash from Hayle- who was viciously attacked and blinded by her ex, Shane Jenkin, has admitted assualting her.

Roland Alli, 32, from Plymouth, admitted common assault. He had denied the charge but changed his plea and was jailed for 14 weeks.

Alli, from Plymouth, carried out the "sustained" assualt on June 16, which caused "extreme emotional distress" to the child that witnessed it, the court heard.

A restraining order is in place prohibiting Alli from contacting Ns Nash or visiting her home.

Powerfully-built Jenkin, 33, gouged out the eyes of Tina Nash during a vicious assault on April 21, 2011, keeping her prisoner in her own home for 12 hours before allowing her to call an ambulance. He also throttled her unconscious and broke her jaw and nose.

Efforts to save the sight in one of 31-year-old's eyes failed and she was left completely blind.

Ms Nash has campaigned against domestic violence after her nightmare at the hands of Jenkin.

Jenkin, 33, was jailed for a minimum of six years after receiving an indeterminate sentence.

He also imposed a Hospital Order without restriction as to time, and consultant forensic psychiatrist Dr John Parker said that although Jenkin's mental disorder was treatable it would be "many, many years, if ever" before it would be safe to release him into the community.
