At Saturday's lunchtime concert the excellent choir of St Mary Magdalene Parish Church with Robin Stubbs visited us from Launceston. They sang choral music by Parry and Aston but particularly beautiful was their rendition of Vivaldi's "Gloria". The concluding piece was a rousing arrangement of "Joshua fought the Battle of Jericho" by Rutter.

On Saturday The Tulip Trio are our guest musicians and as usual the concert begins at midday. On Sunday the Rev Harry Jackson celebrated holy communion at 8.30am. This was followed at 11am by the annual Sea Sunday service. The parade was organised by the Royal Naval Association and led by the band and Standard bearers. This special service was led by Canon Philip Lambert and the guest preacher from the Mission to Seafarers was the Rev Jon Robertshaw. The Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall attended the proceedings as did the Mayor of Falmouth and many distinguished guests along with a very large congregation. The choir sang the anthem accompanied by Michael Hoeg on the organ, and Commodore Tony Hogg read Nelson's Prayer. After the blessing the service was completed with the playing of The Last Post, then after The Silence and Reveille, the National Anthem was sung.

Jan Winslade officiated at sung evensong and John Pyatt and Jan Winslade read the lessons. The organ was again played by John Hoeg.

Events this week: Thursday, 10.30am, said holy communion. Sunday, 8.30am, said holy communion; 10.30am, sung eucharist; 6pm, sung evensong.
