The celebration of parish communion contained a special mile-stone for the recently ordained the Rev Jane Bradbury, namely her first sermon at St Michael’s.

The Rev Jane chose as her themes Jesus’ stay at the home of Martha and Mary and Paul’s urging the early church to proclaim the gospel by word and action. She said the Martha and Mary story seemed to imply that doing is bad and being is good, but that it is more about choices that strike a balance between activity and contemplation.

Canon David Miller presided at communion, assisted by Betty Booker, lay reader, with Janet Jones reading the lesson and Maureen Grattan-Kane leading the prayers.
