President for the day on Sunday was Des Moore who welcomed a visitor from Caerphilly.

In the afternoon Roger Hosking looked at the reading in Matthew chapter 22 when the opponents of Jesus used insincere flattery to try and trap Him, but his quick thinking and knowledge of scripture silenced them. The teachers of the law couldn’t answer Jesus but in chapter 15 he called them hypocrites and a simple Gentile woman recognised him as Saviour and had great faith. She asked for crumbs from the master’s table but we are blessed with a full loaf in the salvation we have through Jesus.

After sharing tea Dieter Friedrich gave a fascinating presentation on the origins of the Bible. We listened to singing of a Psalm in Latin to show how Christians would have heard the Bible before Tyndale translated it 600 years ago. Dieter showed some of the overwhelming evidence of the authenticity of the Bible in the thousands of early documents that have been discovered. The Bible is the best seller today but the least read. It still has the power to change lives today if only we will read its message.
