More than £300 has been raised through a summer fair hosted by a Penzance care complex.
Held at Trevean Gardens, a Mencap ‘supported living service’, the barbecue and fair saw more than 30 residents, support workers, family and friends come together to enjoy the summer weather and raise money for Mencap and Nancealverne Community School for special needs.
As well as a cake sale and raffle, Mencap support worker Tasha Thomas had her long hair cut and then shaved off, to help boost funds.
Lorna Brydon, service manager at Mencap, said: “The fundraising day was a great success. The sun was shining and plenty of people arrived to see Tasha Thomas have her hair shaved off.”
One resident described Tasha as “very brave,” adding: “The amount of money she has raised is fantastic.”
