A Falmouth man was rushed to hospital after being stabbed on Saturday.

A man is due to appear before Truro magistrates today (Monday) accused of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.

Paulo Veiga, 36, who is Portuguese but living at Penryn, was arrested following an incident in Killigrew Street, Falmouth, in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Initial reports are that a 30-year-old local man received a stab wound to his abdomen that required surgery after the incident close to the junction of Lister Hill and Albany Road off Killigrew Street at about 5am.

He is now in a stable condition.
