Lifeboat rescue pair cut off by tide at cove near Porthleven
6:00am Tuesday 13th August 2013 in News
Penlee RNLI inshore lifeboat was called out on Sunday to help two cut off by the tide at a cove near Porthleven.
The crew was called out after the two men raised the alarm by phone just after 4.40pm, arriving at the cove NW of the port 20 minutes later.
The two men had gone for a walk along the shore and were caught out by the rising tide, leaving them unable to get around the rocks back to Porthleven or over the cliffs.
As there was a small swell running the inshore boat reversed in using the anchor to keep the boat bow on to the waves. After rescuing the men they were taken back to Porthleven harbour "a bit shaken up and a little bit cold and very embarrassed" but uninjured.
