This year’s Pink Wig Charity Night marked the start of Henri-Lloyd Falmouth Week and proved a huge success, attracting around 500 women who proudly paraded through the town centre before dancing the night away at the Events Square marquee.
Leading the parade in their inimitable style was the Falmouth Marine Band who paid homage to the event by donning their own pink wigs. The event is organised by the Pink Wig Events committee to raise much needed cash for the Cornwall Breast Care Team, which includes the Mermaid Centre and St Michael’s Hospital in Hayle as well as the Breast Cancer Campaign.
Friday’s parade and party was particularly successful, raising around £5,500 after costs which brings the total raised this year to about £16,000.
That figure will be boosted again next month when The Shed on Events Square holds an auction and raffle evening on a date to the fixed. The main auction lot up for grabs will be an evening donated by The Shed of a five course meal for six people catered for and served by Toby Lamb and Lee Fuller who will cook the meal and serve it in the winning bidder’s own home.
Other items to be auctioned include a Made for Life pure escapism day courtesy of the Budock Vean Hotel and a meal for four at The Cove restaurant at Maenporth.
