Can you help walk a Dachshund in Mawnan Smith?
2:00pm Saturday 17th August 2013 in News
An elderly Mawnan Smith lady is in desperate need of a person willing to give up some spare time to walk her dog.
The Cinnamon Trust, a national charity for the elderly and terminally ill and their pets, has stepped in to help find a volunteer. It seeks to keep owner and pet together for as long as possible with the help of a national network of volunteers who assist when day to day care poses a problem.
“Our aim is to relieve the owners of any worry concerning the welfare of their pets both during and after their own lifetimes, making us unique amongst charities,” said the trust’s Sally Collins.
“We urgently need dog walking volunteers in Mawnan Smith who are able to offer some much needed walks for a lovely two-year-old Dachshund.”
The Cinnamon Trust helps in many ways in a bid to allow concerns of ill or elderly pet owners.
Sally added: “A large number of elderly or ill pet owners become very worried about their ability to care for their pets, and feel that their only option is to re-home them. This is where our national network of dedicated volunteers steps in to offer support enabling them to stay together.
“We’ll walk the dog for a housebound owner, we’ll foster pets when owners need hospital or respite care, we’ll fetch the cat food, even clean out the bird cage or litter trays. All volunteers help in the ways that are most appropriate to them.”
Anyone who would like to help the lady in Mawnan Smith, or the charity in general, should contact Sally on 01736 758707 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
