Land’s End Airport runways resurfacing plan to go ahead
7:00am Sunday 18th August 2013 in News
Two of the four grass runways at Land's End Airport are set to be resurfaced after a rise in profits for the air link company that serves the Isles of Scilly.
The Isles of Scilly Steamship Company, that takes passengers by air and sea to the islands, has seen a rise in passenger numbers, and turnover, after the end of the helicopter link to the islands.
Andrew May, the chairman of the company, said: "Our strong cash position means we will continue to invest in strengthening the route, including plans to resurface two of the four grass runways at Land's End Airport this calendar year."
The company has recently built a £1m terminal building at Land's End Airport and has been giving a boost to the Cornwall jobs market by hiring pilots, engineers, fire crew and customer service staff.
