Over 1,000 people have enjoyed a charity day at Trewithen Estate, Probus, organised to raise funds for the local Marie Curie Nursing Service.

A total of £8832 was raised during the day which will fund 441 hours of Marie Curie Nursing care in the local community.

Mr and Mrs alsworthy gave permission to Marie Curie volunteers to organise ‘Trewithen Country and Classics’ for the second year.

The day was opened by the Lord Lieutenant, Col. Edward Bolitho and his wife, Alexandra Bolitho the county patron for Marie Curie Cancer Care in Cornwall.

Ovr 100 classic cars and motorcycles were on display along with 20 new luxury cars from local dealerships Carrs Jaguar Land Rover, Threemilestone, Carrs Truro Audi, Carrs Ferrari & Maserati Exeter, Mercedes-Benz of Truro and Perranwell Garage - Morgan.

Stalls included fine country crafts and food stalls. Music was provided by the Rock Choir, Trengilly Singers, the Roseland Community Choir, Helen Spear and Lucy Walters.

The fun dog show was well supported with lots of furry friends entering various competitions including ‘the most handsome dog’ and ‘prettiest bitch’.

The Bishop of St. Germans, the Rt. Revd Christopher Goldsmith closed the day with songs from The Roseland Community Choir on the front lawn of the house.

The organisers would like to thank the many sponsors of the event who kindly donated services and equipment to ensure costs were kept to a minimum, ensuring as much money was raised for this amazing charity.
