Jailed Redruth PCSO who had sex on duty has sentence halved
1:00pm Monday 19th August 2013 in News
A Redruth PCSO jailed after neglecting his duties and having sex on duty has seen his seven year sentence reduced by half.
Peter Bunyan, 40, of Carharrack was convicted in March after he was convicted of seven counts of misconduct in public office
He had turned his police radio down before having sex with women he met through his job.
The Court of Appeal heard that Bunyan's sentence had been "manifestly excessive", and that he had not been taking "blatant advantage" of vulnerable women and that his use of a police database, while an abuse of his position, was to "show off".
The Royal Courts of Justice judges reduced Bunyan's sentence to three years. Bunyan has already been dismissed without notice from Devon and Cornwall Police.
