7:00am Sunday 25th August 2013 in News
The committee behind this year’s Helston Harvest Fair is hoping to return the event to the days when it was as big as Flora Day.
Now is the time to enter the various events, which begin on Saturday, September 7, with a pet show at 10am in the Epworth Hall followed by a Kennel Club registered dog show at 1pm, taking place in Events Square at Coronation Lake, or the Epworth Hall if wet.
Application forms are in the Harvest Fair programme available from Heathercraft, Sweet Pea and the Guildhall or online on www.helstonhf.co.uk There will be Cornish wrestling in the Sunken Garden at 2pm and then the annual carnival parade leaving Helston Football Club at 5pm. This year’s judges will be presenters Rebecca Wills and Tiffany Truscott, who will decide the winners at 4pm.
Anyone interested in entering this year’s carnival, or seeking more information should email email@example.com The day will conclude with a gig by Cahooty, who will be playing at the Epworth Hall from 7.30pm until 11pm. Tickets are available from Heathercraft costing £2 in advance, or can be bought on the door for £2.50. Children can enter for free.
On Sunday, fans of baking, art, wine making, gardening, photography and flower arranging will compete in the harvest fair horticultural show. This will take place in the Old Cattle Market, with the exhibits to view from 1pm.
All are welcome to enter, with the classes also in the event programme.
Gary Hunt, from the organising committee, said: “The weekend promises to be great fun and if well attended it could lead to bigger and better things in the future.”
