Last year’s rain was but a distant memory when the sun shone on the St. Peter's Church, Flushing Fete.
“The crowds came out in their hundreds and one not so young couple said they had to park right up at the top of the village but were determined to come even though it meant a long walk to the bowling green and back,” said congregation member Irene Gardiner.
The fete was opened by Mrs Denise Stannard, a long standing and much loved member of the congregation.
She thanked the committee for the wonderful organisation of the fete and praised the people of Flushing.
The fun dog show, run by Michael Carver and Sally Wilding, was a great success with Banjo, a Cavapoo, owned by Jane Reed, winning best in show.
The Punch and Judy Show caused a tremendous amount of laughter and everyone seemed to be enjoying all the entertainment provided, drinking Pimms, eating delicious cream teas and ice creams and all the while, the music from The Wendron Silver Band wafted over the whole proceedings in this beautiful setting overlooking Carrick Roads. It is not known yet how much the fete made for the church, but the Auction of Promises and Goods raised £800 for the Penryn and Falmouth Food Bank.
