Bath of beanz meanz charity funds at Falmouth's Iceland store
8:00am Sunday 1st September 2013 in News
Sitting in a bath of baked beans for six hours is not the usual working day for the manager of Falmouth’s Iceland store, but Anthony Wildgoose did just that as part of the supermarket’s charity week.
Not only was he sitting in the tomato sauce, but passers-by were encouraged to pour large jugs of beans over his head in exchange for a donation.
By the end of the day, Anthony has raised £130.
The bean-a-thon was part of a national week of fundraising events which also saw book, cake and jumble stalls in store and a raffle which boasted a night’s stay at the Norway Inn as its first prize.
At the end of the week a total of around £600 had been raised for the Iceland Foods Charitable Foundation which has been raising money for Alzheimer’s Research UK.
