Meet porky TV star Boris the pig at farm open day
4:00pm Friday 30th August 2013 in News
Forget Del Boy, there’s a new famous trotter in town – and his name is Boris the pig.
Having already featured in an episode of ITV1’s Hungry Sailors, Boris, who lives at Chyvarloe Farm near Gunwalloe, is now set to appear on Come Dine With Me on Channel 4.
Fans need not worry though – Boris will not be dish of the day, but instead open the show, this time accompanied by his lady friend Marj in the opening credits.
Visitors to Chyvarloe Farm’s open day this Sunday (September 1) will be able to meet both pigs between 11am and 4pm, together with a number of other animals.
These include Tweety the emu and Godfrey the pet turkey, plus cows, calves and Iron Mike the bull. The chickens will be wandering freely and children will have a chance to give Oopsi Daisy the calf a bit of a fuss.
This year’s event will feature the largest farmers’ market at Chyvarloe yet – thought to be the only on-farm farmers’ market in Cornwall.
A barbecue and other refreshments will keep visitors going as they work up an appetite watching ploughing and baling demonstrations, looking around the vintage and modern machinery on show and taking part in the farm trail and mask making.
There will also be a storyteller and face painting for children, with plenty of the activities under cover to ensure the weather does not put a damper on the day even if it rains.
The farm will be signposted from the turning off the main A3083 Lizard road, opposite the main entrance to RNAS Culdrose.
