A young lad who dived into the sea at Mousehole to rescue a girl has been hailed a hero.
Richie Payne, from Mousehole, was on the beach near the harbour when he raced into action to help pull the young girl to safety.
It is thought the 10-year-old girl had been snorkelling when she had an epileptic seizure.
Witnesses told the BBC that Richie dived in to grab her and swam her to the side of a fishing boat.
She was airlifted to the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro after she lost consciousness.
Richie, whose dad volunteers on the Penlee Lifeboat, told the BBC: "I saw this girl shouting 'help', so I swam over and I didn't know what had happened, so I lifted her up and said 'take the mask off'.
"But once I managed to get it over her nose, she started foaming out of the mouth."
"We pulled the girl up onto the boat, and then I went in and got towels and wrapped it around her and we waited for a bit and then the paramedic came and the RNLI and the coastguard and police," he said.
He added that while he was 'sort of scared', he was quite a good swimmer and that being called a hero was "pretty cool"
The 10-year-old girl, thought to be a holidaymaker, is reported be recovering in hospital.
