Car tax crackdown as thousands don't pay in Helston, Penryn and Falmouth
4:29pm Tuesday 3rd September 2013 in News
Helston and Falmouth Police are planning an operation to address the "extraordinary" amount of people that have not taxed their vehicles.
There are currently 2,015 vehicles in the TR11 post code area, 952 vehicles in the TR10 potscode area and 1,828 vehicles in the TR13 post code area.
A police spokesman said that lists have been obtained providing the details of the vehicles along with the name and addresses of all the registered keepers.
Adding: "Police are giving fair warning for all those who have not taxed their vehicles, to either do so, declare the vehicle off road by SORN declaration or scrap their vehicle.
"Anyone dealt with for failing to tax their vehicle will face prosecution, substantial fines, possible loss of the vehicle and of course the expectation that the back tax will be paid on the vehicle.”
