Firefighters were called out to Seneschall Park, Helston this afternoon after a quick thinking neighbour reported a smoke alarm sounding.
Crews from Helston and a whole time officer were mobilised just after noon after a neighbour dialled 999 saying they could hear a smoke alarm sounding and see smoke in the neighbouring property.
A Fire Service spokesman said: "On arrival crews found there had been a fire in the kitchen which fortunately was out on their arrival. Crews using two breathing apparatus entered the property to confirm the fire was out, a positive pressure ventilation fan was used to clear the smoke from the property."
The cause of the fire was accidental.
