New chapter begins as St Keverne Library reopens in primary school
3:40pm Thursday 5th September 2013 in News
St Keverne Community Library is to mark a new chapter in its life this Saturday.
The public library has now moved to a new part of St Primary Keverne School – although at one stage it faced being without a home, following a reorganisation of classrooms.
Recognising the importance of the library to both the school and local community, however, the governors have now set aside a “dedicated” room in the old school building, to ensure the library lives on.
A spokesperson said: “The Library Service would like to express their thanks to St Keverne School and governors for making this possible.”
To celebrate the move to the new room, the library is hosting a “Read, Surf and Eat” event for all ages this Saturday (September 7) between 10am and noon. Parishioners are invited to go along, browse the books and enjoy some free refreshments.
The library is part of the Cornwall Council network of public libraries. It offers books, audio books, information, computers with internet use and concessionary bus pass applications, as well as printing and photocopying in both black and white, and colour.
The library is open Monday and Friday from 3.30pm until 5.30pm, and Saturday from 10am until noon, with the school’s large car park available for us.
