Kazbah reopens in Truro after £70,000 refurbishment
2:00pm Monday 9th September 2013 in News
The Kazbah in Quay Street Truro has reopened after a £70,000 investment programme.
The re-decoration and refurbishment of the bar, dining area and kitchen will be marked by an opening party on Saturday, September 14 with live music and the chance to try the dishes from the new menu.
New landlord, Kris Wicketts grew up locally in St Newlyn East, and trained at Truro College. He previously worked in Padstow as assistant manager at Paul Ainsworth’s Rojan’s in the Square.
“I had been looking for the perfect pub for over two years,” said Kris. “When we found the Old Kazbah building, I knew it was perfect for me and couldn’t wait to take over.
“Our aim for the pub is to re-create a friendly Cornish village pub atmosphere right in the heart of the city - the Kazbah is a real hidden gem and we’re hoping with the new developments will help to put our venue on the map in Truro.
“We’ve already had an enormous level of interest and support over the development period and we are now just working hard to get everything ready for our launch date,”
The pub is also launching an evening event schedule with an open mike session on Monday nights, a quiz night on Tuesday, jazz and wine on Wednesday evenings.
The Kazbah will also be opening a tea room adjacent to the pub, with Kris’s mum at the helm and making the cakes.
