Brambles save pensioner as he tumbles down Cornish cliff
12:00pm Thursday 12th September 2013 in News
An 80-year-old Austrailian holidaymaker is lucky to be alive this morning, after his tumble down 100ft high cliffs was halted by brambles.
The man slipped off a path at Mount Edgcumbe Country Park and had fallen down a steep slope, when his clothes became tangled in the brambles next to a sheer drop.
After a person on a passing yacht heard his cries for help, MoD Police from Devonport Naval Base on a warship escort in Plymouth Sound raced to help the dangling pensioner.
The officers managed to secure him as he slipped further towards a sheer drop, with Coastguard teams were also called out to help.
The man was lowered to the rocks below before being taken on a MoD Police RIB to waiting paramedics and is reported to have suffered only minor injuries
