Residents and businesses that have helped Helston bloom over the summer were rewarded for their efforts on Sunday.
As part of the prize giving at this year’s Harvest Fair Horticultural and Craft Show, certificates and awards were given for the Helston in Bloom competition.
This challenged those living and working in the town to create floral displays and gardens, which were then viewed by judges earlier in the year.
Winner of the best private garden award was Rachael Blight, followed by Simon Roach in second place and Elizabeth Davies third.
There were no surprises in the pubs and hanging baskets category, which was won by Trevor Williams for the ninth year. In runner up position was C Carr, with Simon Roach picking up his second certificate when he took third place.
The vegetable garden of the year was owned by Mr Moore, while Nansloe Academy won the schools and colleges award.
Robin Winzar, caretaker at Nansloe Academy who runs the school gardening club, said: “They really enjoy it. This award has been won with the help of the staff, B&Q Penzance, Jewsons in Helston, Tesco Helston and big support from Ann Webb, deputy head of Nansloe Academy.”
