The latest collection from award winning dress designer Wendy Makin will be heading straight from the catwalk to Helston this weekend to celebrate the launch of recently relocated The Bridal Studio.

The boutique was opened in 2008 by Christine Woods and originally based in a first floor shop in Coinagehall Street.

It has now moved to larger premises in Wendron Street, to the former Bassetts shop. It means brides have more room to try on gowns and there is also more space for the bridesmaids and prom dresses also stocked.

Christine said: “The new shop is a beautiful old building and its age lends itself really well to a wedding boutique.”

She started the business after the weddings of her daughter Victoria and son Phillip, when she realised how much she enjoyed everything connected to the industry.

Christine has continued that personal interest in her business and will often dress her brides on their big day.

“I love being with the excited family and friends. I have had to do extra things like mending mother of the bride outfits, nails of bridesmaids and on one occasion both wedding cars broke down so I drove the bridesmaids to the church. All these things add to the memories of the day,” she said.

To launch the new shop the 2014 collection from Australian award winning designer Wendy Makin will be on show. It will be the first time the designs have ever been seen in Cornwall, after only appearing on the catwalk in Harrogate last week.

The gowns can be seen and tried on by appointment on September 13,14,15,16 and 17; call 01326 560903.
