Friday the 13th proved lucky for St Keverne after volunteers agreed to keep the village Christmas lights running this winter.
The display’s future had been thrown into doubt after all but two of the previous lights committee stood down at the beginning of the year.
At an annual general meeting last Friday, however, a new committee was formed to organise this year’s lights display, which will be lit on another Friday the 13th – of December.
Taking place in the village square, the lighting up event will include a barbecue, visit from Father Christmas, carol singing, music from St Keverne Band and the village’s annual Christmas raffle draw. Tickets for this will be available from shops in the area soon.
Unfortunately, due to there being no committee until last week, there will be no calendar put together – something that has happened for the past three years.
However, a children’s photo competition is now up and running until August 2014, the results of which will create a 2015 calendar.
Although full details will be available soon, children of all ages can start taking photos on any subject now as photos will be needed from every month/season for the calendar.
