British Transport Police are appealing for the public’s help to identify a man they would like to speak to in connection with the theft of a passenger’s property from a train in Cornwall.
Investigators have today released CCTV images of a man they believe will have information that can assist the investigation into the theft, which took place on Wednesday, July 31.
Detective Constable Dave Bailey, investigating officer, said: “The victim, a 19-year-old man from London, who was travelling to Cornwall with his girlfriend, boarded the 18:06 London Paddington – Penzance service at Paddington station on Wednesday, July 31.
“He placed his luggage, a black sports bag with a pink ribbon attached, in the racks in the vestibule area of the carriage near to the buffet. When he arrived at his destination, Bodmin station, the victim realised his bag was missing.”
The bag contained a Sony laptop computer and charger, and items of clothing.
DC Bailey added: “After reviewing CCTV footage, I would like to identify and speak to the man in these photographs as I believe he will have key information about the incident.
“The man in these pictures travelled on the same train as the victim, leaving the service at Liskeard.
“He is described as white, aged 35 to 50, with short brown hair. He was wearing a polo shirt with horizontal stripes, beige trousers and sunglasses.”
