Camborne and Redruth fire stations will close and be replaced with new fire service HQ at Tolvaddon after plans were given the green light by councillors today.
The purpose built base on a former industrial site will host the fire control centre, engineering workshops and a training centre.
Hayle, which currently is covered from Camborne, will also get a new fire station, which will be shared with police and ambulance personnel as part of the large scale changes approved by Cornwall Council’s planning committee.
Cornwall's fire chief, Des Tidbury, said the decision showed not only clear support but "real ambition" for the Cornwall Fire & Rescue Service".
