A 'Great Big Swap-A-Rama' will be held at the Lighthouse Childrens' Centre, Jubilee Road, Falmouth this Friday.

People can bring their pre-loved but outgrown babies' and childrens' clothes and toys to swap for free, and help the Falmouth and Penryn Food Bank at the same time by donating jumpers, trousers and cold weather clothing to the families in our community who need it most.

Lana Payne, trustee for the SEEDS project, said: ""By recycling our good quality, well looked after clothes and toys we are taking some of the strain off our planet producing new things all the time and swapping is so much fun, you just don't know what lovely things you can pick up, absolutely free.

"Having the Food Bank involved just made sense, we know how hard it can be to afford clothes for growing children and how important it is to feel good in what you are wearing, whatever your age."

SEEDS is a small charity dedicated to providing environmental education to children currently working out of the Lighthouse Children's Centre on Jubilee Road every Friday at 10am.

The Falmouth and Penryn Food Bank has seen unprecendented demand for its services since it launched itself two years ago and provides three days supply of food for people in crisis, given out by volunteers on Mondays. Wednesdays and Fridays from Highway Community Centre in Penryn.

"We are really pleased to be welcoming these donations from the families who attend the SEEDS Project sessions. It can make such a difference to the families who need our support, and the numbers we are seeing are increasing.

"There's a growing understanding that a crisis which results in a family needing a food bank can unfortunately happen to anyone. We'll look forward to working with SEEDS on this and supporting our planet as well as our communities." says Sarah Simons, Penryn and Falmouth FoodBank coordinator.

If you miss your chance to join the Swap-A-Rama this Friday then SEEDS will be holding other Swap sessions in the lead up to Christmas as well as an 'Alternative Christmas' session where parents can make toys, wrapping paper, cards, buy ecologically-sound trees and find out how to save money as well as the planet this Christmas.
