Retiring maritime pilot says 'Port did me proud' at grand send off
1:00pm Saturday 28th September 2013 in News
David Barnicoat writes. My grateful thanks to everyone within the port, family and friends who gave me such a magnificent send off when I retired from the Pilotage service.
The port fraternity certainly went to great lengths to ensure I had a good send off – something that was very heart warming and most overwhelming both for me and my family.
My colleagues, shipping agents Tamlyns and Denholm-Wilhelmsen, Falmouth Town Council, Falmouth Ambassadors, World Fuel, Falmouth Harbour office staff, pilot boat crews, NMMC, Falmouth Docks and Engineering, Falmouth Cargo Handling, Missions to Seafarers, Porthoustock and former Dean Quarry management, SubMarine Services, Marine Towage and Salvage, Truro Harbour, Pendennis Shipyard, Coastguards, Falmouth Lifeboat, A&P Falmouth, the Royal Fleet Auxiliary, and P&O Ferries all honoured me in one way or another.
Special thanks to The Mayor, Councillor Geoffrey Evans, Captain Alex Head, Penny Philips, Peter Child, Mike Reynolds, A&P Falmouth, the Falmouth Pilots Partnership LLP and the crew of the tug Percuil, for their immense kindness.
