Helston town centre without power
12:20pm Thursday 26th September 2013 in News
The power has returned to the majority of homes and businesses in Helston town centre following a wide scale power cut this lunchtime.
A total of 2,138 homes were cut off at 11.59am following a high voltage fault on the network.
The vast majority are now back on, with Western Power Distribution reconnecting all but 150 of the homes by 12.50pm.
A spokesperson said: “We’re in the process of swapping those 150 to an alternative supply. They should be back on very soon.”
The power loss affected the town centre and the immediate vicinity, including the area around church and the surrounding homes.
The spokesperson added: “Our number one priority is to get all those customers back on supply and then locate and repair the fault.”
Helston town centre is without power this lunchtime.
The reason for the power cut is not known at this stage, but Western Power are said to be working on the problem.
The Packet will bring you further updates when more is known.
