Cornwall heart specialist's work restricted after 'potential concerns'
11:25am Monday 30th September 2013 in News
An unnamed consultant cardiologist in Cornwall has had their work restricted following concerns, with an investigation launched.
Patients of the heart specialist will be contacted directly by the trust or through their GP.
Andy Virr, divisional director for Medicine said: "We have identified through routine scrutiny potential concerns about the clinical practice of one Consultant Cardiologist. As a precaution we have restricted the clinical practice of the Cardiologist while we investigate further.
"Patients need not contact the Trust directly but we will write to them individually and contact their GP if any concern is identified.
"Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS Trust is committed to continually improving clinical practice and following the principles of transparency and openness as set out in the Francis report 2013.
"We will always act to put patients first and be honest when we do not meet the high standards we expect of ourselves."
