Phone numbers change at Cornish health clinics and community hospitals: INFO
4:00pm Monday 30th September 2013 in News
Phone numbers have been changing across various health clinics and community hospitals operated by Peninsula Community Health, due to the installation of a new system.
The N3 phone system has been implemented as part of a national system for the NHS to move from analogue to digital services.
Peninsula Community Health say that the existing phone system was in need of upgrading and was at capacity in some areas, meaning new phone numbers could not be added. As well ensuring more telephone numbers are available across the healthcare community, the new system was chosen as it will allow the voice and data services to run on the same network providing an overall cost saving.
The installation for some sites began late last year and the programme is expected to be complete by March 2014. Once phone numbers have been updated, key numbers will be automatically diverted to the new number for three months in which time Peninsula Community Health updates its website, NHS Choices, patient publications and letters and directories where possible.
As an additional measure it has been decided to implement a clear ‘change of phone number message’ for three months following the initial three month divert on the main and MIU telephone numbers for forthcoming sites.
Nick Buckland from Peninsula Community Health said: “It always creates some confusion when phone numbers change and we are aware that due to the widespread nature of contact details that old numbers can remain in circulation for some time. We would urge our patients to update their records and stakeholders and other bodies to update their literature or websites to ensure the public have access to the correct information.
“We would like to thank everyone for their patience at this time and if you experience a problem contacting one of our hospitals or services please visit our website to gain the correct number or contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on 0300 3301444.”
