A teenage holidaymaker died while trying to protect his younger brother on cliffs in Cadgwith.
An inquest in Truro yesterday heard that Toby Hart was climbing with his brother Stephen, then aged 11, and friend when a patch of grass gave way and he fell over the edge of the 50ft cliff.
Just moments earlier Toby had been moving to help his brother – it is thought to get him away from the edge.
Despite attempts by people on the beach, including an off-duty nurse, to resuscitate the 16-year-old, Toby later died in hospital.
The trio had been on the second day of their holiday with the brothers’ parents Graham and Sally Hart from Cheshire.
Speaking after the inquest Mr Hart said of his eldest son: “He as a typical 16-year-old who had the world in the palm of his hand and enjoyed life.”
