Crewe Alexandra footballers arrested after a compaint of sexual assault in Redruth while on a pre-season training camp have been re-bailed by police.

 

The seven men, who were arrested on suspicion of rape are:

  • A 19-year-old man from Warrington.
  • A 35-year-old man from Crewe.
  • A 24-year-old man from Stoke-on-Trent.
  • A 24-year-old man from Nantwich.
  • An 18-year-old man from Stoke-on-Trent.
  • The other two men, aged 21 and 20, were arrested in Cheshire.

The seven men have been re-bailed until the following dates:

• 19-year-old man from Warrington – 27 Nov 2013.
• 35-year-old man from Crewe - 28 Nov 2013.
• 25-year-old man from Stoke-on-Trent - 29 Nov 2013.
• 24-year-old man from Nantwich - 2 Dec 2013.
• 18-year-old man from Stoke-on-Trent - 3 Dec 2013.
• 21-year-old man – 10 Dec 2013 (arrested in Cheshire).
• 20-year-old man – 11 Dec 2013 (arrested in Cheshire).

The arrests followed the alleged assault of a woman in her early 20s, and five players were arrested in Redruth and two were arrested in Cheshire. The five were taken to custody centres in Camborne and Newquay. 

Devon and Cornwall Police have confirmed that a complaint of sexual assault has been made following a report of anincident at 4.30am on Saturday in Redruth.
