Falmouth's mayor, Geoffrey Evans, held his Civic Service and parade on Sunday which has been heralded as one of the best for many years attracting mayors from Penryn, Helston and Truro.
The parade formed on The Moor and was led through the town centre by the City of Truro Pipes and Drums Band. Among those taking part with mayors and councillors from other Cornish towns, members of the police cadets and veterans and standard bearers.
The service was staged at King Charles the Martyr Parish Church and was held in conjunction with its harvest festival. During the service a harvest loaf, which was donated by local baker and former town councillor Charlie Choak, was presented to the altar and there were readings by the Deputy Lord Lieutenant, James Williams, and Peter Richmond and an address by the mayor's chaplain, Captain Colin Brown.
After the service, the parade reformed and made its way to a reception at the Falmouth Watersports Centre, passing the saluting dias along the way.
Mr Evans said afterwards: “This was one of the biggest civic parades in recent years with over 100 civic guests, including the mayors of Penryn, Truro and Helston and the chairmen of the local parish councils.”
