Movement on Helston toilets
6:00am Tuesday 15th October 2013 in News
After the first flush of excitement things have gone rather quiet on the Trengrouse Way toilet front, but it looks like now there maybe some movement.
It was back in July that Helston Town Council's policy, finance and resources committee agreed the disabled toilet at the currently closed facilities should be refitted to become a unisex cubicle serving that end of the town.
Members agreed to pay for the maintenance of the toilet and the opening and shutting each night out of its “devolution of assets and services” budget, with Cornwall Council covering the refurbishment cost, after hearing that caught short shoppers were turning to the wall outside to relieve themselves on.
The general agreement was that this should happen sooner rather than later - but since then things have gone a wee bit quiet.
However, PPV can now reveal that that this will all change next week when the full Helston Town Council will hear report from town clerk Chris Dawson.
He has spoken with a Cornwall Council officer, who is producing a specification to which to refurbish the toilet and seat shelter on the corner.
At their meeting next Thursday members should hear details about the refurbishment, as well when the work might be scheduled to begin.
